android - ?attr/colorPrimary support version? -


i in serious predicament. have built entire app using ?attr/colorprimary pick color background shapes, have devised way dynamically change theme , color. works on 5.0, on 4.x devices, ?attr/colorprimary crashes app. why android studio not alert developers incompatibility?

is there support version of ?attr/colorprimary?

colorprimary part of appcompat of version 21 , works api 7. problem instead theming code.
